DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER, 1ST SATURDAY IN APRIL HAS BEEN MOVED TO ROADIE JOE’S ON THE DOWNTOWN PLAZA. SAME DATE! SAME TIME!
Salisbury, Md. – 1st Saturday in Downtown Salisbury will kick off its 2016 season of free outdoor concerts on April 2 from 4 to 7 PM on the steps of the Government Office Building.
Sponsored by the City of Salisbury and the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District, 1st Saturday in April, held on North Division Street, will feature AMP Studio: Academy of Music Performance, a Downtown-based rock ‘n’ roll school for children ages 10 to 18. The school operates out of Headquarters Live and works to place students in various rock bands.
AMP will play from 4 to 7 p.m. JFLO will perform during the set break, from 5:30 to 6 p.m.
“If you haven’t seen AMP or JFLO perform, you are in for a real treat,” said Sarah Rayne, co-chair of the 1st Saturday Committee. “These performers are talented and high energy and will for sure kick off our second season on a high note.”
Because the annual Downtown Egg Hunt was cancelled due to inclement weather, 1st Saturday is partnering with Remedy Church to offer a miniature version of the popular event. For more information on the egg hunt, visit www.downtownsbyegghunt.com.
All attendees are asked to bring a donation for Operation We Care, a locally-based nonprofit organization that sends care packages and supports our military, law enforcement and fire/EMS. A list of the most needed items can be found at www.operationwecare.org. 1st Saturday will collect donations for Operation We Care throughout the entirety of its 2016 season.
This year 1st Saturday will host a different food truck every month for the convenience of its attendees. The first food truck of the year will be the Salisbury-based Phat Boyz BBQ, offering up yummy BBQ perfect for a 1st Saturday picnic. Downtown restaurants will also be open and offering carry out. Attendees are asked to dispose of their trash in one of the many trash receptacles provided by the City of Salisbury.
The 1st Saturday Art Market has grown this year, so look for new artists selling locally-made products. Also in the market will be Goatopia, bringing with them some furry friends.
Limited edition 2016 1st Saturday T-shirts will be available for $15 each. All proceeds will benefit 1st Saturday’s continued efforts to provide a free event in Salisbury’s Downtown. Sponsorships, donations and fundraised money ensure our musical acts are paid for their time. Learn more about our sponsors at www.1stsaturdaysby.com.
New 1st Saturday bumper stickers and magnets will be distributed to attendees for free!
1st Saturday provides a free, family-friendly experience for locals while also promoting local business, tourism growth, and community involvement through music and celebration. The event is an all-volunteer effort, a downtown economic development initiative, and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District Committee.
